Mayor George A. Sabo, Jr. lived and served in Prospect most of his life. Growing up on his family farm on Cook Road, he loved his town and his country. He served his nation proudly during World War II, and he served Prospect just as proudly when he returned.
Mayor Sabo was an active Democrat in the Prospect community. In 1967 he was elected First Selectman. He continued to serve in that capacity as Chief Administrative Officer and then Mayor until 1977. Mayor Sabo passed away in 2012.
During his administration, Mayor Sabo actively sought to engage the youth of Prospect in town activities. To this end, he established the Youth Advisory Committee. The Prospect Democratic Town Committee established this scholarship in memory of his dedication to Prospect youth.
