Prospect has had the same mayor for the past 44 years. For at least half of that time, there has been a Republican majority on the town council and solely Republican representation on the Region 16 Board of Education.

While some in town view that status quo as just fine, many of us have serious concerns not only about the many missed opportunities to better our town over the years, but the real and serious flaws in its financial management.

This fall, as we watch Long River Middle School students walk along a brand new sidewalk from their school to Hotchkiss Park or Hometown Pizza after school, many of us are asking:

What took so long? Why didn’t this happen years ago?

And while we’re on the topic:

Why not have something as simple as voicemail at Town Hall for callers to leave a message after 4:00 pm or more online services to make it convenient to do business in town?

Why not embrace transparency though the use of video for Town-sponsored meetings?

Most importantly, why not have a safe, secure infrastructure to protect sensitive data?

Yes, that last question refers to the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Town payroll account.

Lack of basic financial oversight – the account was not reconciled for at least 10 months -- has led to the loss of approximately $500,000 of your tax dollars, between the theft itself and expense related to it. This scandal demonstrates a major flaw in Town Hall operations.

What else is there to be uncovered?

Prospect needs a new mayor - one that will embrace necessary change and look to the future rather than clinging to the past. Prospect needs a mayor with the vision, energy, and skills to take us into the 21st century.

Kevin O'Leary and his team are the future that Prospect needs, that Prospect deserves.

VOTE ROW A on November 2!
